Hi all While not all specifically of Observatory, I discovered HiltonT on Flickr has a bunch of scans of old newspaper clippings of Cape Town - some of which (such as this one: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hilton-t/4777923646/) of Lower Main Road are in the early 1900s and are quite interesting to peruse.
