Hi

This morning at 6:30 when I woke up and opened the curtains I was greeted
by the sight of our front gate to the street standing wide open and both my
car and my husband's car (in our off-street parking) showing signs of being
tampered with (tissues on the dashboard/doors ajar). We went outside and
closed the gate and checked our cars. The only thing missing is the service
book and manual from my husband's car ( VW Golf). There was really nothing
else to steal. The thieves had a good rummage around and opened everything
including taking the top off the fuse panel in my car. Were they trying to
start my car? Why would they steal a service book? I don't have a criminal
mind so I don't understand their actions.

I phoned Premier Security who do our armed response but the call went
unanswered. I then phoned Vetus Schola and the man there said he would get
hold of Premier for me. I then phoned Premier twice more and eventually on
the third attempt the call was answered. I expressed my dismay to
Antoinette who answered for two things: 1st that the call went unanswered
(apparently there are problems with that landline and I had no other
numbers for them - now I have another 2 numbers - thank you, Antoinette)
and 2nd that the fact that our gate was standing wide open was not reported
to us by either Premier or Vetus Schola or anyone for that matter. Are
there not supposed to be patrols?

Lance from Premier phoned me a little later to deal with my concerns.
Basically he told me that unless I was living in a sector/zone/area that is
a hot spot (I live in Ivy Street and have no idea if that is a hot spot or
not although I do know that my neighbour's motor bike was stolen earlier
this week from outside their house) I could expect a patrol down my street
before midnight and one after midnight because the focus is on the "hot
spots". If that is the frequency, why bother? That leaves any thief with a
7 hour and 55 minute window of opportunity every night! And for this I pay
an armed response company and OBSID fees every month. I don't know what the
status is on Vetus Schola patrols and their frequency and I also don't know
about the police and their patrols but the fact that not one of the three
noticed a wide open gate that is usually always closed is cause for concern.

I am not feeling very safe today.
