It has just occurred to me that I've seen nothing here about a robbery/ attempted robbery that I witnessed the tail end of last Tuesday (13th).
I was driving down Milton Road, and near the top - where it's crossed by Lytton - I nearly ran over a young man who dashed out in front of my car. (Perhaps he was the "one that got away".) Then another young man almost did the same, and then I realised what was going on - a bunch of people (all ages, colours etc), some of whom were holding onto a wriggling chap who had been caught in the act - I think of grabbing a woman's bag as she walked down the street - though I can't be sure of that part. Certainly there was a shocked and sobbing woman picking up things that had fallen out of the bag. I offered to pursue the other robber, but this was declined - I can't say I was sorry; I can't quite imagine myself in a car chase! The good part of what happened was the number of people who had appeared to help. I have no idea where they came from (perhaps from the backpackers on the corner), but the fact that they were there immediately was good to see. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Observatory Neighbourhood watch" group.
