That¹s not entirely true. If there is evidence that a property is being consistently used for illegal activities the landlord can be held liable and there are cases where the NPA has successfully applied for the properties of landlords to be forfeit due to the tenants of the property using the property for illegal activities. So there is an established legal precedent for the owner of a property to ensure that the property is not used for illegal purposes.
