It does seem that more and more and effective Neighbourhood Watch is needed. As Jonah said there was a meeting attended by twelve people. A neighbour hood watch needs 100s of people. You need never attend a meeting - all you need to do is sign up and be the eyes and ears.
There is a radio system in place and radios could be deployed to hotspots - the OBSID does monitor this network There is an OBSID AGM coming up on 1 November. This is your opportunity to let OBSID know if you are happy or unhappy with their service. With all these serious crimes reported lately I don't think anyone can be too happy. I for one think the camera system will be a huge waste of time and money (I hope I am proved wrong) and it seems to have come at the cost of reduced manpower and patrols. Everyone is affected. What can you do? Join the OBSID - if you are a rate payer, property owner, business owner, resident you are entitled to join OBSID and let your voice be heard. But you have to sign up, There are over 2000 eligible households/entities entitle to member ship - my guess is that less than 25% are members. I will request this information and post a separate thread. The time is now to call OBSID to account.
