An armed robbery had taken place at St Peter's Square this afternoon at
around 15.45 Tuesday 17 March 2015. Apparently the robbers stole a
person's I'pad, jumped into an 'Audi' and drove away along the Main Road
towards Cape Town. It is assumed that the SAPS was alerted, who then gave
chase in which the 'Audi' must have tried to turn down Rochester Road after
seeing SAPS approaching from Salt River side, then 'u' turned back to Obs
but was blocked by SAPS approaching from Rochester and Scott Roads etc, and
stopped them at the Ex Superflo & Caltex garage on corner Rochester and
Main Road. The robbers jumped out and tried to run away down towards
Rochester corner but were both apprehended by Woodstock SAPS, seemingly
assisted in the chase by Metro Police/Traffic, a security company using
black cars and even saw an Air Force Warrant Officer on site. The robbers
apparently must have thrown the fire arm over a boundary wall in which the
SAPS searched the roofs of the homes on Donne Street corner, the firearm
subsequently found. The arresting SAPS Officer was Constable Nyanda and
other Woodstock SAPS members. *Well done to Woodstock SAPS and other forces*.
