Also on the topic of the armed response, on at least two occasions the patroller has come out in response to an alarm activation and has reported that the premises were secure when in fact there was a burglary in progress. Of course, it's often difficult to see into the house to see what's going on, so it's hard to know how much blame to lay on the patrollers or the company, but it's a troubling trend.
Sometimes it seems that the intruders deliberately set off the alarm at the front of the house, then go around and enter from the back. That way, the security company gets an alarm signal from the front sensors, and when they check the front all seems in order.
