On the contrary, the work to make OCRopus use all of the GNU autotools including libtool has been completed. If one uses the five patches I have submitted in the files section (latest dated 20081124) or in OCRopus issue report number 122, one can build using Cygwin on Windows XP an ocroscript executable with cygocropus-0.dll and cygocroscript-0.dll Cygwin .dlls. For all packages the procedure is the same and can be automated. Suppose one has unpacked OCRopus in some directory bbuild. Put the patches in bbuild. In general for beta software I think it is advisable to install in some subdirectory of one's home directory (I consider it an abomination to force users to use sudo just to install in /usr/local or worse /usr). cd ocropus patch -p1 < ../toautotools_ocropus_1305_20081124.diff autoreconf --install --force ./configure --prefix=$HOME/busr CPPFLAGS="-I$HOME/busr/include" LDFLAGS="-L$HOME/busr/lib" make make install And to test: cd ocroscript ./run-tests Of course install external packages such as OpenFst (20080422), leptonlib-1.58, tesseract-ocr subversion revision 201, and iulib subversion revision 116 first using exactly the same process. Considering the proposed instructions for MSVC date back from around the same time I completed the same port of OCRopus to GNU autotools about a year ago and the amount of effort it took me to catch up to OCRopus's changes since then, I have my doubts about trying to go the MSVC route. On the other hand, the tesseract-ocr project includes a Visual Studio 2008 project file, so you might want to look into that for some porting tips. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "ocropus" group.
