It has taken much longer than expected, but the new OCRopus repositories are finally up and running.
You can pull the code from: http://mercurial.iupr.org/ That's using the Mercurial version control system. Switching to Mercurial also makes it easier for you to work directly on OCRopus and supply patches and enhancements. There is a lot of new functionality. Among other things: * OCRopus has been turned into a library * there is a new set of command line programs for book-level recognition * there is a new line recognizer * there is a new component model * OCRopus supports book-level retraining and adaptation * there are new preprocessing functions * there is a new language modeling system * there are many improvements to layout analysis * OpenFST support is now optional * there is TIFF support * Lua support has been factored into a separate repository (ocroscript) Functionally, the current state of the repository already corresponds to what will be in 0.4. We're still working on cleaning up the build system, training models, and providing documentation for the system. When that is done, we will call it the 0.4 release. Many thanks to the OCRopus team (Faisal Shafait, Ilya Mezhirov, Mathias Reif, Christian Kofler, Yves Rangoni) and all other contributors. Many thanks also to our supporters and sponsors, foremost Google.
