Is there a high level description of what ocropus is meant to look like (in 
terms of dependencies) in the longer term?

Right now, I'm interested in getting it running on something other than 
ubuntu. Obviously there are quite a lot of dependencies, and some of those are 
problematic (especially leptonica).

I'd like to get things building better, but don't want to waste effort on 
dependencies that are proposed / planned for removal.
