Could you send diffs instead of entire files? That way it is much more
easy to see what kind of changes you have made.

Sounds reasonable.

Then could you please start out by doing a diff where you do not change
coding style. Once we have the content in place, you can always change
the coding style.

I know my basic optimisation, but I doubt that I'm the best candidate
for this job. So, as always, I appreciate comments from other people
