I don't think so, no. I think the only reason we don't have such
functions is that nobody ever got around to writing them. Such a
contribution would be most welcome.

I think this function is part of the 'statistics toolbox' in Matlab,
i.e. not part of the Matlab core. I think this is the reason why it has
not been moved to Octave core.
