Hi it appears to me that everyone in this thread is in favour of dropping the non-free section or has no interest on it. I'm thinking of waiting 3 more days so that everyone can voice their opinion (that would be a total of one week which sounds to me like a reasonable time).
For sake of organization, I'm forwarding here the e-mail by Frank Willett who replied to this thread under a different subject tittle: ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Frank Willett <f...@wwwtools.com> Date: 17 November 2011 20:30 Subject: [OctDev] Octave GPL / Non-GPL inclusions To: Octave Forge <octave-dev@lists.sourceforge.net> I agree with the position that the GPL projects should not contain any software which requires a non-GPL component. The producers of the non-GPL software can and are using the GPL software as 1) a bug report system, 2) free advertising, and 3) a free support group. These undermine the core principles of GPL.
