Why then does it work OK: - as root - under Windows (msys) ? Previous versions had the PKG_ADD stuff in /share (as there were no binary modules, until 1.0.17, just scripts). I never saw problems there either, in fact I had io-1.0.17 installed (on Linux) as ordinary user in my home folder.
