Marco/Alex,

Do you have any idea why Red Hat 6.2, x86_64 netcdf build reports '64-bit
offset' for that example and the win32 mingw and cygwin builds report
'classic' ?

I am not an expert of the netcdf files but as far as I understand, 32-bit os
with appropriate file system can also handle netcdf files with 64-bit offset
for files that are bigger than 2G !
