We can do this by keeping an eye on Familiar Linux and their changes. The Familiar Linux OE fork can be considered a special branch of OE and we should try to get as much as possible of their bugfixes into OE. Thanks to OE being a common denominator, I see $DISTRO being more or less irrelevant, but support for $MACHINE is what counts. In my opinion we should work on getting DISTRO=generic to be a useful DISTRO for almost all support devices and keep DISTRO=!generic for decisions like branding, polishing, and tailoring.
