Hi
I took a glance at Google's Checkout and noted a few interesting bits.
Interfacing with Google Checkout is going to be far different than just
adding another payment processor, since it short circuit's the normal
checkout procedure.
We'll provide Google the products, prices, the shipment costs per state
or geo code, taxes per state or geo code, etc, and Google will return
the customers name, shipping address, and a 3 day payment guarantee.
Their api is simply a base64 version of an encrypted xml packet, so Java
1.5 probably isn't required if someone is willing to do some
programming.
Overall, I think the service will be very popular since customers will
prefer not having to give their credit cards out to every business they
order from online, and Google will provide a very good defense against
identity fraud, and a "score" that helps them avoid shady operators.
Thanks
Daniel

hi,
just a thought, if ofbiz can be made to work with the new google checkout, it
can perhaps spurr greater adoption of ofbiz. Just a handful of e-commerce
providers support of google checkout, thus ofbiz can still have a first movers
advantage if it was made to support google checkout. maybe google will list
list ofbiz on its support e-commerce providers page then. More information on
google checkout can be found at the following links:
