Folks,

This one goes way back and I need reminding.

I have recently had to install a very old BP/V5.5 communications program
that has operated for years on all sorts of MSDOS PCs on to a fairly new one
using Windows 95. I find when I run this Program.EXE (DOS) program, having
shelled out to DOS, it all works except for the serial port communication.
The communication proceedures in this program are identical in all respects
to an even earlier version of the program compiled way back even further
under BP/V3 as Program.COM which runs under the same environment, as it
should, ie: the serial ports work fine.

I know there is a philosophical difference between .com and .exe files but
can't remember the details to know if this is part of my problem. Needless to
say the original Program.com needed some alteration and I can't support Borland
Pascal Version 3 programs any longer.

  Anybody, any clues ?

  Cheers
