Where I work we have a new NZ written ERP client server app all MS (All VB
absolutely no C++!!!!). It was "going live" in October. The clients haven't
yet been installed on my PC in a working fashion. The reporting based on Access
does not last more than 3 minutes before falling
over.................................. I haven't the time to tell you it all but
the decision was made by others on the strength of MS all the way through and a
few other factors. They have learned a very hard lesson and woudn't apply that
again, I think. What we also get from the developers are the statements that
the problems are not the developers but MS problem. "Oh really - so why did you
choose them to develop with then?" We should say but those who would ask that
question know the answer because it is the same reason they bought the product
from the developer - ignorance!

I would ask the people making these coporate decisions.
"Are we bigger than all of our competition?"

If the answer is "no" then ask why customers should use the company rather than
the biggest rival. There may even be a company mission statement tied into
this. Then ask again if the 7 reansons below stack up against this.

And the reason he likes them red hot, it appears,
Is he greatly enjoys blowing smoke from his ears.
