Hmm. There are (at least) two subtly different possible interpretations of the 
current situation:

(a) Borland goes over to Linux to build up its opportunities, while continuing 
with the Windows products.

(b) Borland goes over to Linux because MS is thrashing them in the Windows 
market.

In case (b), VB is just about to get full OO features in the next release of 
the language - and some other more C/D-like stuff in there as well. A 
settlement with the DOJ could be years away. I read an article about the C/B 
merger which said that neither company had achieved profitable growth in the 
Windows market for some considerable time.

I'm writing this more from the perspective of being a tertiary student trying 
to figure out how marketable Delphi skills really are, especially in the South 
Island :)
