Hi John, I can't offer comparitives, but I'm running VMWare Server on my XP Pro pc here just for a particular environment for one project. Host is an old Pentium 3.2HT with 3GB ram and a million things installed over the last 4 years or so. VM Guest is clean XP Pro SP2, D7, and some tools and components. Runs fine - actually faster than D7 does in the host pc - prob. because of less components installed, no antivirus etc. When I get some time and cash, I'm going to build a new dev. pc, probably with a 64bit host running Linux with plenty of ram 4GB+. Then run various VM's under VMWare workstation. I have a large number of different projects here, often requiring different versions of Delphi, database, component sets etc, so VM's help a lot. Steve

Best looking options so far are either: a) AMD 64bit Athlon Phenom/Athlon desktop - able to take up to 8GB RAM b)Grunty-ish laptop Intel 2.2Ghz Intel Core Duo (Centrino 2) Any comments or other recommendations. I am interested in most bang for the fewest bucks and portable-ish as well. 4 - I would also be running D2007 native (ie not in a virtual PC) - any issues for D2007 with any of the above PC's on any versions of Vista or the AMD 64bit chips?
