A few years agot we looked into this for a proposed project...that never ended up happeing.....but Telecom offer an SMS service that gives you the 4 digit number. They also had an XML API for the sendign and receiving.
There was also another company, but I just cant remember who it was, but my I suspected at the time they used the Telecom solution too since their API was VERY similar.

Just a quick request for a heads-up on the state of play for automated delivery of SMS in NZ. Also getting the replies back. I know this topic has been discussed before, but I'm looking for a more current state of play, technologies, and some idea on what costs are involved.
How do you get a four digit code such as Newstalk ZB ( 9292 )?
