I remember seeing feijoas for sale in a supermarket in the US back in 1991 for 
$US1.99 a kilo, which I thought was outrageous. I said to the store person, 
"we run those over with the lawn mower at home."

I still like eating them though. If you know someone with a tree, you have an 
endless supply. I couldn't imagine buying them.
