Yup, and back further in time Kiwifruit is the name for a particular
breed (developed in NZ I assume) of Chinese gooseberries.  They will
probably call the next one Zespri XP or Zespri 2010 or something of that
nature ;-)

I think Zespri as a name was dreamed up so that the marketers would have
a lot more control over the brand internationally than they did with the
"standard" kiwifruit.  Would be more identifiable with NZ, less chance
of consumers getting confused with "inferior" overseas-produced
kiwifruit, etc.

Well, that's my vague understanding anyways.
