+1.  I see little benefit in setting arbitrary limits on when 
campaigning, comments, etc. should start/end.

Of course, its to a candidates benefit to get his message out early, 
because if he's still campaigning half way into the voting period, a 
number of people have probably already cast ballots and the message is 
simply not reaching the largest possible audience.
