I worked with John for about 10 years while I was at Sun. He played a key role in evolving ARC processes with changing times. In the last couple of years, we went thru several discussions on what ARC would mean in opensource scenarios. He also plays a vital role in bringing together several seemingly non-overlapping review committees to follow common guidelines towards compatibility, interoperability and maintainability.
