Subject: Re: [ogf-d20-l] Rumors, get your Rumors!
<< I heard (and, I hope, helped squelch) a similar rumor yesterday. >>
Sorry, but you didn't squelch it. Rumors are immortal: once launched, they
CAN NOT BE KILLED. We are obligated to try, as you did; but we are doomed to
fail. Every effort to squelch them will be distorted and retold as just part
of the conspiracy.
<< I said I had heard nothing of the sort, but that maybe the rumor started
from a concatenation of items: Ryan's note of caution (along the lines of:
hey remember the D20 license isn't final yet, so be careful with what you
publish because the final terms of the license may not be what the terms are
now in the draft), and not long thereafter Ryan's move to Special Projects.
>>
Don't forget folks ON THESE LISTS whose immediate response to Ryan's
announcement was to create and spread the rumors.
<< Throw in tales on RPG.net about WotC stores holding the CC until MM's
release date. >>
Funny, I got my CC a week ago, and haven't been back to get my MM yet. But
facts never stopped a rumor, of course.
Keep trying. It's a noble effort. But you'll fail.
