While a number of distributors pretty sadly under-ordered 3D2K, we didn't
have enough to go around anyhow. Some distributors may not have been giving
it much "push" because they knew they didn't have enough copies. (As far as
I know, the only US distributor that has any left is Berkeley Games.) But,
happily, the reprinting ships to distributors tomorrow, and I'm drumming up
the orders today from those who didn't get me numbers already.
In general -- well, as Mark said, publishers get used to the "they're out of
business/that's out of print" lines. Sad, but too often it happens. It's
just something you learn to live with as a small publisher, and fight it
when you can.
