Could you, say, write up the main characters in your novel to "flesh them out"
to help write the story, hold the stats close to your chest, and then use the
d20 trademark?

'course, the ol' "List of DCs to do something" works.  That picture book o'
kitty kats could have a DC listing for the "photography" skill for each picture.
