<< So, you want to play in WOTCs yard but you don't want to play by their
rules? >>

Excuse me, but I have to ask: where did Clark say anything REMOTELY like
that? In the message to which you replied, he merely pointed out that
arguing "This doesn't hurt Wizards economically, so it shouldn't hurt you"
is entirely specious. In related messages, he has pleaded (unsuccessfully,
it appears so far) that compilers lean toward Wizards' example, of
supporting and encouraging profit incentives whenever possible.

As far as I can see, the significant OGC producers out there have bent over
backwards to play by shifting rules that are now nearly three months
overdue technically, and more like six months overdue practically (since it
really would have been better to have a few months to look at the final
licenses BEFORE releasing product at GenCon). They have invested a fair
amount of risk capital. If the whole d20 effort falls apart, that will
affect them a lot more than any of this will affect Wizards; yet they have
scrupulously tried to adhere to the rules as best anyone could.

Now they clearly had a profit motive that justified these risks; but they
just as clearly worked HARD to play by the rules. Suggesting others is an
insult to all of them, and a personal insult to Clark.

<< This is starting to look like people are ONLY interested in making their
bucks but not actually participating in the open gaming concept. >>

That's right. That's why Clark and SSS contributed (conservative estimate)
80 pages of new Open Game Content: because they didn't want to participate.
That's why Ryan is trumpeting CC in the Halls of Wizards: because Clark
isn't playing by the rules.
