Re-read the above paragraph and see if you can spot your mistake.
"...taught to avoid men who look like most gamers..." That was not a
stereotype of gamers, it was a comment regarding their appearance and how
that appearance is often interpreted.
I am not a father, but if I had a daughter I would take great care to
teach her listen to her instincts. If a group of men seem sleazy and
dangerous, she should get away as soon as possible. Maybe they're just
gaming geeks with no sense of social grace or even soap, but I'm not going
to teach her to stop and find out... I'd rather she be safe.
It's not a stereotype of gaming geeks that they are going to rape a
woman... but it *is* a stereotype that young men who hang around and look
unkempt and sleazy might be dangerous, and gaming geeks who hang out at
comic shops tend to match the same description.
This is really getting tiresome. Please read what someone actually
wrote before replying. Can we now stop the flames and mocking tones? This
is not the purpose of this list.
