To be fair to the various news media I should note that it was probably the
police, not the reporter, who originally emphasized the items that were
listed in the article. The last Law Enforcement handbook I saw linked D&D
with such things as wacky-cults(TM), suicide pacts, and psychotic
behavior. This was only a couple years ago so this material is probably
still very much in circulation and use in the law enforcement
community. This is probably in large part a residue of the satanic panics
of the mid80s and early 90s.
