That's good, because nobody has said it. If you look at the subject line, you'll see what the original question was all about. What *I* said when I started this thread was (in certain specific situations involving complex creatures like the Mind Flayer) that having a stat block tied to a name isn't worth using if you can't also use a description of the creature that players are familiar with. If you have to invent a new creature to use the stats, you might as well rename it and tweak the stats to your liking, which makes the original contribution to the SRD essentially useless. Obviously you can come up with a new description for a Mind Flayer, nearly anybody could do it with very little effort.
