Okay, I feel a bit sheepish now.

I'm responsible for those (that's my website). I hadn't considered those
because they are so old, and they were put out there mostly as an
experiment. I was playing around with a couple of technologies (namely xsl
and cocoon), and thought, "Hey, I'll see what I can do with the SRD. That
should be fun."

I can't remember when that was, but it was about the time those sections
were first released...years ago. You may also note that there are pieces
missing. For example, the ability scores file is missing the section
"Influencing Other Characters"

Also, if I had to do it over, I'd use DocBook instead of my own custom tag
structure. Something like this:
http://culhaven.opencg.org/srd/srdabilityscores.new.xml. Note, if you open
it up in IE, the table doesn't render very well. Netscape should look okay,
but not the greatest. It's still xml, with a stylesheet applied.

If you're looking to use XML there is one other alternative that hasn't been
mentioned. You could use OpenOffice. You can grab the RTF files off
Wizards site, and bring them into OpenOffice. Then, you could save the file
into OpenOffice's native format. Now here is the secret. The native
OpenOffice format is a zip file, with a couple of xml files in it. I can't
remember which file it is that has the content, however their website should
have all that info on it: http://www.openoffice.org. You could grab that
file out of the open office file, and use it.

I'm waiting for somebody to come up with an OpenOffice to Docbook extension
for OpenOffice. Then I could just open up the RTF files and save them to
Docbook. I could then edit them a bit to make them prettier (I think the
tables would be the thing that would need the most help). That extension
would be cool, and I'd even write it myself, but I don't have the expertise
to do something like that.

Anyway, those are my thoughts and comments.
