Hello,

I am a final year student at the Bucharest Polytechnic University.
OpenImageIO seems to be a project well suited for my skills.

I have acceptable C++ skills and lots of experience with OpenGL. I am
also familiar with Qt. This looks like the right combination to help
me work with OIIO. During the previous SoCs, I worked on capture
support for Phonon and an OpenGL interface for VLC.

The documentation for OIIO is comprehensive and it helped me
understand most of what it can achieve. I checked out and built the
project and tried to install some of the extra libraries. There are
some problems with some of the tests, but they are probably caused by
mismatches in the test images. The following days I plan to play with
OIIO and create a couple of patches for IV.

I think I would like to work on one of the following ideas (the first 3 ones):
- more image plugins
- adding oiiotool functionality
- iv viewer thumbnail view

The thumbnail view for IV appears to be the one that would be the best
for me - I already have some ideas in mind for that. But I don't know
where other students would possibly apply in the big numbers - if
everyone wants to work on the thumbnail view, then I should
concentrate on oiiotool or image plugins. So, do you recommend me to
concentrate on the thumbnail, or should I orient myself towards the
others?

Best regards,
Casian
