Welcome, Casain.

We are primarily interested in accepting and funding outstanding students, not
project proposals. We will not reject you for GSoC just because another
outstanding student submitted a proposal for the same project.

If that happens, we will happily accept both students and find a way to let
both people work productively -- maybe the project can be subdivided into two
pieces (possibly even expanding the original scope to make it worthy of two
people's efforts), or maybe after acceptance, we will help one of the students
find an alternate summer project within OIIO that is of interest to them.

In short, do not worry about what anybody else is proposing. Just worry about
making the best proposal you can, on a project of interest to you.
