I've been adding links to Internet Archive scanned books into the U.S. National Park Service library catalog: http://www.library.nps.gov/
When I add links for multivolume works I spell out the volume number in the link that is on our bibliographic metadata page, which goes to the Internet Archive metadata page. Basically I feel that it is appropriate for the IA page to have a one to one relationship to each scanned book but the bibliographic metadata page in our catalog, as well as the one on Open Library, can and should have a one to many relationship to scanned books. Here is an example of a work held by Morristown National Historical Park that's been scanned out of the University of California Library collections: http://www.library.nps.gov/cgi-bin/Pwebrecon.cgi?DB=local&BOOL1=all+of+these&FLD1=Keyword+Anywhere+(GKEY)&CNT=25+records+per+page&SAB1=NPSPARKMORR120 With some citations I have links to multiple copies of scans also. I feel that this redundance is good because some scans may not be as good as others, some originals may not be as good as others. Also, redundance can protect against maliciously adulterated digital copies. The above example also has a Google Books "About This Book" link created by the software that we use, at display time via a look up using embedded numeric identifiers in the underlying MARC record. The software that we use is the same as that used by the U.S. Library of Congress, Ex Libris' Voyager, though their use would be more conservative than my usages, which I feel anticipate FRBR. Because I spell out "Internet Archive" in my links, that is actually a "keyword anywhere" searchable phrase that can be used to isolate citations with links to readable online books that fit the scope of the National Park Service libraries.
