Hi all, (Open) librarians specifically,

In my effort to slim down the US government* in Open Library from
33,500 authors to, ehr, fewer authors, I came across the "most
prolific" US government author so far: former President Clinton. There
were 342 hits when searching for "United States Clinton" as author. I
think I managed to merge them all. [1]

My question: does it make sense or do we, or the (trained) librarians
around here, want to keep the entries for "... President (1993- ) ..."
and "... President (1993-2001) ..." apart?
To me, there is only one, so I merged the two (1993-2001) with the 340
(1993-) entries. If that was "wrong", which I don't think, we need an
"undo merge".

If people would like to help merge United States authors, there are
some suggestions in the attachment. I created 'slugs' to group the
names by removing spaces and interpunction. Former President Reagan
has just under 200 entries...

Ben

* isn't "slimming down the government" among the goals of the American
government? :)
