Hi Ben, As you say, I'm thinking in collection management. With something like that, OpenLibrary could be used too to store information about users bookshelves, so many more people will use it not only in a social way and many more books will be added in OpenLibrary, I think.
I understand the problems with hidden profiles, you are right. But perhaps this (private lists) don't fit the project objectives that be more in a Wikipedia way, so just was a question.
