Hi Álvaro, Collection management with an openly licenced book catalogue was the reason for me to come to Open Library too :) But I quickly learned that although you can make lists, and I started a list "Collection", OL was not made for it.
Not too long ago, however, some people created http://www.ex-libris.in/ which may be just what you are looking for. It's an online collection management system that promises privacy and even allows you to say where you put a book, or who borrowed it from you. It's generally very easy to use, although when I tried to add a book to my collection, it was impossible to distinguish two editions of the same work. The Indian Ex Libris doesn't really stimulate to add missing books to OL, as fas as I can see, or the step to have an account on two websites may be too big. Having collection management inside OL could indeed lower the barrier to add books, but it's just not a goal for OL as Anand says. For my CD collection I used to store information about source, price, date of "arrival" etc. in a database on my desktop. That wasn't portable, but worked and was pretty private :) Perhaps a Google spreadsheet could work for you?
