Usually when I log in to Open Library I see a banner across the top that says basically "Hello! The state of _____ is participating in our eBook ending program..." with whatever state I happen to be in. I assume this is IP based but don't specifically know how it works. My home IP address is apparently now falling into the category of "IP addresses that OL can't locate" which is sort of a problem as I can no longer see the lending library books. My IP address at home, using regular old DSL, is 71.181.69.236
If I connect via my iphone, I am connected with IP address 174.226.7.54 which maps my IP to the State of New York (I am in Vermont, but that's close) and I can see the items correctly. So, this is part of the overall bug of some IPs not being registered with OL as being in the US. Here are two items that I do not see lendable copies of http://openlibrary.org/works/OL97152W/Pordy%27s_prickly_problem http://openlibrary.org/works/OL89928W/King_Con When I look at both of those pages, I don't see any non-DAISY lendable copy of either book. Does anyone know what the mechanism is or how this lookup happens. I'd been getting support reports of this from people but this is the first time I could reproduce it. If it's fixable I'd like to fix it or get it fixed.
