The hydrovac brake booster was either an RPO or dealer installed option. When
ordered as an RPO the brake lines were routed differently then if installed as
a dealer option, so it's pretty easy to tell which is which. The Brake booster
was installed in the engine well on the passenger side and had a bracket which
mounted to the frame. I have an original booster that I am planning on using on
my 59, the problem is that the power brake RPO could not be ordered with the
cool-pack Air-Conditioning option, simply because the A/C compressor is
physically in the same space on the passenger side of the engine as the brake
booster. I've thought about mounting it in a different place but have yet to
make a decision...... There is quite a bit of literature about hydrovac brakes,
and believe it or not I called my local big truck brake repair shop here in
Orlando and they have an original unit on the shelves. You may want to check
locally for one as well.
