Correct. The automatic transmission W-30s used the 308º duration cam from the W-31, whereas the manual trans W-30s used the long overlap 328º duration cam. My neighbor back in Texas let me drive his 33,000 mile 1971 W-30 convertible: TH400, power brakes, and AC. The idle was no where near the same as the manual trans W-30 cars.


Except for '68-'69 cars and W30s, which is what started the whole discussion.
