My 2cents:I will say that ebay is nothing more than a marketplace, people tend to forget that. I bought for the first time in my life a motorcycle that I didn;t ride or hear run, from a description and pic. off ebay. To top it off the guy selling it was a used car dealer and the bike had a salvage title. I did however talk with him thriugh email a half dozen times. I got a feel for the person and evaluated his responses. Three weeks later the bike arrived. Everthing was as stated and I have been riding this goldwing for 6mo. now. It was a great purchase. Conversly I bid on a bike 100 mi. from me. The guy wanted a western union transfer to England! Item description was use paypal and pay in cash of cert, funds. But that all changed after the auction. He made every excuse to get me to pay for it though western union. After 4 tries to explain i would only use pay pal and cash or all cash in hand
(remember the bike was only 100 mi. away) He conviently stopped emailing me. Everyone needs to use your head, it'll usually be right. Regular bus. sense you use in everyday life, ebay is nothing different than a shopping mall only online. It's even easier for scams, there is no store front to return to. Follow the rules and you should be fine. Many many books at the library for ebay that help you navigate safely. I've read them in the reading room and have always had good experiences on ebay. You have a responsibility to be responsible for your own decisions, good or bad. and you know when your taking a leap of faith. The question is wieghing the costs and risks and the product. My father always said never be in a hurry, theres always another deal. I try to remember this. If you saw it on ebay once you'll see another like it soon enough again. I need a right front trim molding for my rallye
because I parked too close to the garbage can and dented it. There was one brand new last week on ebay for bin 110.00 I didn't buy it nor did anyone else. it eill be back up again, or another. I will get it some time but probably at a better price, I do know however, if I found that one I will find another. Take your time and use your head.

Here Here Matt,
Nice to see someone stick up for a Ebay seller for once. (and I don't
know the seller) But, I mean really, are they all Nigerian Bankers?
It looks like anyone who lists an Oldsmobile, or Oldsmobile part for
sale opens himself for a tirade of accusations and innuendos, even threats
of bodily harm. If you don't believe the listing, or don't trust the seller.
Simple, "Just don't bid".
After
all it is possible that some just don't have expertise to evaluate
what they have. Or simply make some honest mistakes in there listing? Damn
even misspellings will get them a blast from list members that may be or may
not be better informed.
Don't get me wrong, I know there are thieves and outlaws on Ebay, as
well as down the street in my own hometown. So let the buyer beware! But
don't group all the apples in one basket.
Again, I'm not trying to start a war here, just an observation. It may
be naive, but I still have a little faith that there are a few straight
shooters left out there!
Anyway I have vented, with no flame war intended.
Have a good weekend!
Howard
