In addition to what everyone else has said, make sure you have the right
fan shroud on your car, and that the fan blades are positioned the right
depth into the shroud (about 1/2 inside the shroud looking from the side).
You didn't mention if the shroud is there or not. My recently purchased 69
S is missing its shroud. It heats up during slow driving because of this
... it's got a W31 clone 350 motor and a 4-row copper brass radiator ... it
needs a shroud.
