Ken,
Any recommendations?
I'd still use good Weatherhead or Aeroequip hose, but you can use 304
stainless tubing in 3/8" or 1/2" with stainless Swagelok(R) compression
fittings.
Now I need to replace the pump (and it's
sock) with something that will reach the bottom of the tank -- what should
I
use?
Remove the pump and steel tube that connects the pump to the attaching
plate. Bore the hole in the attaching plate to accept the size stainless
tubing you want ot use. Bend it to shape to rest on the floor of the tank.
Be sure to angle cut the intake end. Then mock up the angles and position
and heliarc the new pickup tube to the attaching plate. Conncet to the new
stainless tubing with a flex hose.
could I replace the float part with one from another sender
and it work OK?
I would believe so.
Or is there something I could use to repair this float that
would hold up?
The only thing that I can think of that would be reliable is coating the
float with the same type of epoxy used to seal the inside of fuel tanks.
