Oppss,,sorry 371 owners i knew i made a mistake :O.
It was 2 yrs ago we were bone stock including mech. fuel pump.
Ran a 16.0sec 1/4 mile, makes the inflated figures even worse.
15.7 was after some mods. last yr.
This yr. 15.3,,lots of changes and still not taken a full second off.
I need more coffee...>>>

Subject: Re: H.P. formulas
Hello
1958 dealer brochure lists 371 J2 312 H.P.,take away usual 20% for
transmission ect=250 H.P.at rear wheels.
I got 246 H.P.at rear wheels with mild cam,headers,Alum.
intake,MSD,Alt.,elec. fuel pump.
Stock cast intake,Gen,stock ex. man. stock cam. we booked a 15.7 sec
pass=176H.P. at rear wheels.
Thats 262H.P. at the motor approx.
Seems the dealer figures were a wee bit inflated even back then in
1958.
If i had a shorter rear tire,$,,(26" instead of 28 tall) we would run a
15.2 instead of a 15.31.
I still got 500 rpm or more left after i go threw the fini line :O.
