I know 425 engines to be tricky. From cam bank angle, solid vs hydro lifters to push rod lengths....
That should not be a problem. It's easy to figure out.
Water pump leakage...
It's the exact same water pump design and mounting as on ALL Olds second generation engines with all of the front covers interchanging. There are no water pump issues.
425s work great, the rod length to stroke length ratio is perfect, and the 4" stroke allows higher RPMs over a 455.
