I understand and agree however I must say that my initial response was based
on the seemingly less than knowledgeable acquaintance he seemed to have with
425 engines. I was in his position years ago when on my 2nd of 3 435
engines... The only olds engines I have owned. The learning curve on the
cam, rods and banking angle was most frustrating due to the lack of
knowledge that parts stores, mechanics and "super shops" have on olds
blocks.

I absolutely love my 425 now that I know what I need to know to make it run

That should not be a problem. It's easy to figure out.

It's the exact same water pump design and mounting as on ALL Olds second
generation engines with all of the front covers interchanging. There are no
water pump issues.

425s work great, the rod length to stroke length ratio is perfect, and the
4" stroke allows higher RPMs over a 455.
