I'm not a banker, but will try to explain it as I remember it.
They said in order to wire transfer funds to my account(anyones account)
that you have to give them your account number to have the funds
credited to. So that is the first problem, someone overseas has your
account info. The second reason had something to do with a 3rd party of
some sort, (that is also oveseas)who gets involved in the transfer of
funds. Now they also have your account info. So the opinion of my bank
was to avoid giving your info. out to anyone. There are to many unknowns
and scams. If all banks follow this, I have no idea. But it works for me.
